Coaching for expatriates
As an expatriate, you face many changes, whether professional, personal, social or family-related.
This is the case if you've been a multi-expatriate for years. Or if you are about to leave to work abroad for the first time. And also if you are preparing your return home after years abroad.
In fact, if you're here today, it's probably because you're at a turning point in your life or career. A transitional phase that involves fundamental questions about your professional, personal, family and social development and fulfilment, whether on expatriation or on your return back hom.
As an expatriate, may be:
You're wondering whether to continue your expatriate life, change your horizons, or return home. You want to weigh up your options and make the right decisions.
And if you're in a relationship or with your family, you'll want to include what is at stake for them in your thinking process.
Or if you're single, you'll want to make the right choices for a more balanced life.
Currently, your early career aspirations are no longer the same.
You don't know whether you want to continue in your current job, adapting it to your needs and desires, identify a new career orientation, undergo a professional retraining, or perhaps start as a consultant or self-employed entrepreneur.
You feel the need to clarify what you really want, to initiate change and open a new chapter in your life.
You know that a return to your country of origin is not a trivial matter and needs to be prepared.
You want to clarify your expectations, both professional and personal, prepare for reverse culture shock, and identify how to facilitate your return back home.
You want to get back on the job market, consider a professional reorientation or progress and develop your career internally.
But you don't know how to express what you have to offer, let alone how to make the most of your professional and personal experience as an expatriate.
You'd like to feel confident about this new position.
With this in mind, you'd like to develop certain skills, whether in management, leadership, time management, communication, emotional and social intelligence or intercultural skills.
Or maybe you'd like to get over your impostor syndrome and navigate your transition with serenity.
You have the impression that nothing is moving forward professionally.
That's why you want to identify what's holding you back, clarify your ambitions, desires and needs, and assert them.
You want to define a career development plan that really suits you, with a clear commitment to professional development, whether vertical or transversal.
In short, you want to be able to deploy your strengths and break through your glass ceiling!
You're a couple, and your partner works too.
So far, you've managed the challenges of a dual career on expatriation, considering the professional and personal fulfillment of each. Or on the contrary, it's always been very complicated!
Today, frustrations are growing stronger on both sides. You feel the need to rethink your strategy and find the right solutions to meet the challenge of a dual career abroad.
If you're abroad with your family, you may feel guilty about imposing the multiple changes of your mobile, international job on your children and your partner. You find it hard to make the right decisions for yourself and for them.
That's why you want to make sure you include your family in your thinking process.
Your work takes up too much space in your life, to the detriment of your personal balance, fulfillment and well-being.
Or maybe you feel guilty about not spending enough time with your loved ones, whether they're with you or far away. You know you don't want to go on like this and look for strategies to have a better life balance.
You're thinking of changing career direction, perhaps a professional retraining or starting as a self-employed to create a nomadic business that adapts to your expatriate life or become a consultant.
And yet, it scares the hell out of you. You're wondering whether it's worth leaving your financial security behind for a career change full of unknowns, or for entrepreneurship that doesn't guarantee the same stability as salaried employment.
You don't really know how to prepare your career transition and make the right decisions.
Following a burnout, you realize that you no longer have the same aspirations for your life and career.
You want to reflect on your relationship with work. You also want to refocus on your needs and desires, and work on your stress and energy management.
What's more, you want to make sure that your current job or your next one brings you energy, confidence and balance. You want to regain your motivation and equip yourself with the tools to sustainably recharge your batteries and strengthen your mental, emotional and physical resilience.
You don't know how long you'll be an expat, or what's going to happen between now and the end of your contract. You find it complicated to deal with all the uncertainties.
You feel the need to prepare yourself to bounce back from the changes to come, make the right decisions in good time and make the right choices when the moment comes.
You want to approach these uncertain times with greater serenity.
You'd like to be well prepared for your next departure abroad, whether it's your first or umpteenth expatriation.
And yet, you're wondering: What are the right questions to ask myself? What do you I need to make my integration a success? What will enable me to flourish abroad? How can I manage relationships with my loved ones back home? How can I prepare my couple and family for this transition? What will happen to my personal life? How do I deal with the inevitable culture shock?
Your observation today:
Tu voudrais créer des changements positifs dans ta vie d’expatrié, mais tu ne sais pas vraiment lesquels, ni comment !
I understand! I know a lot about the transitions of an expat life and career!
At the age of 21, I decided to leave Switzerland to work abroad!
Little did I know that I was to become a multi-expatriate for thirty years! Since then, I've lived in a dozen countries in Africa, the Middle East, Russia, the United States and Europe.
I've also experienced four professional reconversions.
I started out as a primary school teacher in Madagascar. Three years later, I became a manager of professional musicians in France. I then spent ten years working in the humanitarian field for a major international organization. There, I made rapid professional progress in leadership and multicultural team management positions, working in complex security contexts and on sensitive issues.
After 13 years abroad, I returned to my native country, Switzerland. For me, this was a period full of questions and the desire to rediscover a personal balance, without being able to identify my next professional chapter. I went back to my first job as a teacher, but I soon realized that it no longer suited me.
It was during a new expatriation, for the first time with my family, that I went back to school, then changed jobs again to become a career and life coach
For ten years now, I've been working as a professional and personal coach, specializing in transitions and expatriation. Since then, I've set up my own nomadic business abroad, adapting to my husband's mobile and international career.
It's clear that, as an expatriate, I've been through an enormous number of transitions: the four professional reconversions mentioned above, various professional statuses (employee, accompanying spouse, student, entrepreneur), various personal statuses (single, in a relationship, with a family), experiencing the challenges of a dual career, those of an accompanying spouse and those of a return to my home country.
Today, I apply all these valuable experiences to my coaching work. What's more, I've focused on quality training!
Certified in career and life coaching by New York University (NYU), as well as in positive psychology, resilience, emotional & social intelligence. I've also trained in burnout prevention and post-burnout orientation, and in post-traumatic reconsolidation therapy.
Today, I support expatriates who wish to make successful career transitions and create positive changes in their personal and professional lives.
As an expatriate, for a long time I lived through the changes and transitions in my professional and personal life with great ease!
And then, one day, everything got complicated!
Having embraced expatriate life when I was very young and single, in a few years I experienced many changes, both professional and personal. To the point where, little by little, I created the narrative that I was in constant need of change, and that I lived through these life or career transitions with great ease!
And yet, to my great astonishment, after 13 years of expatriation (I'd already lived in 7 different countries and undergone 3 professional reconversions), I suddenly felt totally lost, no longer finding my rightful place and a good professional and personal balance and fulfillment!
I couldn't understand why it was so hard this time! But now, looking back, it's pretty obvious!
In fact, without realizing it, I was experiencing several transitions at the same time: a return home after years abroad, recently married, two small children, a mid-life transition, a move to the countryside in a very local context, the need to stop sacrificing everything for work, and the feeling that my choices no longer concerned me alone, but now also impacted my couple and my children!
It was only later that I realized the importance of stepping back and taking stock. It was time to sit down and think about what I really needed and wanted in all areas of my life! It was also necessary, at this stage of my life, for me to become pro-active again, a driving force in my professional and personal life choices, not only projecting myself in the short term, but above all identifying my life and career goals for the long term!
That's how I managed to create the positive changes I needed at the time!
And it was to help me take a step back and reflect that I created the TRANSITIONS method, adapted to the needs of expatriates.

I’m a photographer and 10 years ago I became a sales director, specializing in children. When I started working with Nancy, I really appreciated her beautiful energy and compassion for others. Yet, I must admit, I was skeptical. I was lost and confused about where to go, what to do and how to reinvent myself. Six months later, I’ve clarified my goals and I’m exactly where I want to be. I’ve started writing a film script and managed to re-boost my creativity as a photographer. I’m happy and proud of what I’ve accomplished. Nancy’s program is intelligent and tailored to your needs. She’s very creative and will use your best potential to boost your hard drive!
Nancy had an incredible instinct for identifying my blocks and highlighting the patterns that were preventing me from making progress. I was able to realize what I needed to do differently to achieve my desired goals.

Nancy coached me through the launch of my freelance business. Her coaching helped me enormously in navigating all aspects of starting a business, creating a clear strategy, and clarifying my priorities. Nancy had an incredible instinct for identifying my blocks and highlighting the patterns that were preventing me from making progress. Through structured conversations I was able to realize what I needed to do differently to achieve my desired goals. Nancy has a very good understanding of the challenges expats must manage while living abroad, which helped me so much more. Her support throughout the process is invaluable. I wouldn’t have launched my business so quickly without Nancy’s coaching. I recommend her 100%.

Questions often asked by expats interested in the program TRANSITIONS.
This program has been designed to support any transition, whether before, during or after your international stay. And it's suitable for a first or umpteenth expatriation, a professional or personal transition, etc.
Yes of course! When you're on expatriation, it's common, at one time or another, to face issues linked to your status.
If you're a couple, questions about the challenges of a dual career are likely to surface.
If you're with children, the way you approach your expatriation will be very different.
Expatriation with a family includes very specific issues linked to children, such as how to facilitate their adaptation, choices for their schooling, relationships with the family back home, and issues linked to their status as children of a third culture.
If you're concerned about any of these issues, I'd be delighted to discuss them with you during this program.
Without a doubt! I have many clients who are single and/or childless, whether by choice or not.
As a single expatriate, you face very specific challenges, which we can discuss in the context of this coaching program.
Between each coaching session, allow a minimum of two hours to complete the exercises.
These exercises are there to guide you in your reflection and enable you to progress at your own pace. To do this properly, you need to set aside enough time to devote to it.
That's an excellent question, and one we can discuss in a discovery session, because it depends on your needs, preferences, desires and availability.
For both, the method is identical. The only difference is the way I accompany you.
In my opinion, the main advantage of individual coaching is that it's 100% personalized, flexible and adapted to your needs and your way of working. Individual coaching is a tailored-made program!
On the other hand, the main advantage of group coaching is the interaction with other people in the same situation as you, which is highly motivating and enriching. Group coaching offers you a new community!
Some people prefer the intimacy of individual coaching, while others prefer the exchanges of a group. It's all very personal.
With individual coaching, it's easy: you just reschedule your appointment.
In group coaching, you'll have access to the recording of the group session. You'll be able to ask me questions before the session, and I'll be able to answer them during the session, even if you're not there. All you have to do is watch the replay.
Group coaching
Group coaching lasts 4 months. We have 8 sessions with a frequency of one session every 15 days.
Individual coaching
The duration of individual coaching depends on the frequency of our sessions. It will last 2 months if we meet weekly, 4 months if we meet fortnightly or 6 months if we meet every 3 weeks.
In general, I recommend a session every 15 days, but of course it's flexible depending on your constraints!
In general, I prefer individual coaching to last no longer than 6 months, because it's the regularity of our sessions that will enable you to make the most of your coaching.
In the introductory session, we can agree on the ideal frequency for you.
