Bye Burnout is a coaching program for humanitarians, expatriates and accompanying spouses who want to prevent burnout, look after their well-being and bounce back from a professional or parental burnout.
This program enables you to identify your energy leaks and recharge your batteries to regain and maintain an optimal energy level.
Bye Burnout also helps you to clarify your post-burnout career orientation and prepare for your return back to work to avoid any relapse.

I was feeling very low energy and very stuck on what to do moving forward in terms of my humanitarian work and lifestyle. I was looking for some support that could help me organize my thoughts and move forward, with someone who has a good understanding of what it means to be a field humanitarian worker and who has experience in coaching people in my situation.
The first thing that really helped my emotional state was to think of things I’m grateful for. I’m usually not a negative or pessimistic person, but I felt so low energy and so stuck that I had lost a bit track of the positive things in life. It helped me to gain perspective and feel more positive.
The reflection about my strengths and values (also on how they could apply to a next work-phase) was very helpful. It was also useful to be asked concrete questions to help me organize my thoughts and to discuss them.
Now, I feel less stuck and much more conscious of my options.
I think the combination of videos, written documents and exercises is quite interesting in preparation for each session. And I felt Nancy had a supportive attitude and gave relevant feedback.

Following a burnout, or when exhaustion has been avoided, it is often necessary to prepare your return to work and/or reflect on your career orientation. If you're interested, you can choose this additional option’, which perfectly complements the 4 previous steps.
This option offers 2 individual sessions and 2 additional modules of exercises.

If you're off work, you will need to be under the care of your doctor and/or a psychologist. Having said that, my program is complementary to this medical support. My program will help you take action. It also helps you to maximize and sustain the benefits of your therapy. I regularly have clients who follow these two approaches simultaneously. At our introductory session, we'll clarify what your current energy level is and from there assess when the best time is to start working together. Yes, this program is highly recommended after a burnout. It enables you to prevent a relapse by helping you to clarify the way you function and by helping you to put in place concrete actions to sustainably nourish your energy.

I'm aware of your realities, having worked in the humanitarian sector for 13 years: 3 years in international solidarity, 8 years in emergency contexts with the International Committee of the Red Cross and 2 years at headquarters in Geneva.
I know from experience that it is particularly difficult to take care of oneself and one's energy as a humanitarian. It’s therefore essential to consider the constraints and realities of humanitarian workers.

Yes, it certainly takes into account the particular challenges faced by expatriate spouses, who are often isolated and misunderstood. I've been an accompanying spouse myself for 11 years, and I know how taboo the subject of parental well-being and burnout is while abroad.

Tout à fait ! Quand tu vis et travailles à l’étranger, tu fais face à beaucoup de stress lié à ta mobilité internationale. En plus ton style de vie a un impacte bien plus large qu’uniquement le travail. En tant qu’expatrié, tu fais souvent face à beaucoup de changements et d’incertitudes pour tous les domaines de ta vie. Tu dois constamment t’adapter dans le cadre de ton travail et de ta vie quotidienne. À l’étranger, il est aussi courant de se retrouver un peu seul face à ses propres difficultés.
Je connais cette vie d’expat, vu que je suis moi-même multi-expatriée depuis 30 ans ! Je sais combien c’est courant de s’épuiser et combien c’est parfois stressant et compliqué, malgré la perception extérieure trop angélique de notre vie d’expat !

Depending on the package you choose, this program includes 8 or 10 individual coaching sessions with 8 or 10 exercise modules. The length of the program depends on the regularity of our sessions. I generally suggest that we meet once a fortnight, which means that the program lasts between 4 to 5 months, depending on the package. It's a short program (although at this stage you might think otherwise). The good news is that you'll feel a positive impact on your energy levels right from the start. In the introductory session, we can discuss the frequency and duration most appropriate to your situation and schedule.
